Combining Leadership Theory and practice for success
There are many different theories of leadership that can be put into practice to achieve success. But what eludes most is that it did not achieve a synergy between theory and practical guide to paving the level of success they want.
I will briefly explain some of the different types of theories of leadership.
Ethical Leadership does not ignore profits and losses, costs and performance, but rather is the addition of several other elements, which, taking into account the objective of the factual and moral norms.
As Daft, 1999 had said "moral leadership is to distinguish good from evil and do good, looking good, honest, good, and right conduct in his practice" will really show the essence of ethical leadership . The Hersey and Blanchard's situational leadership focuses primarily on the characteristics of followers. This consequently determine the behavior of leaders.
Alternatively, the behavior of the heads are influenced by the level of preparation exhibited by the followers which in turn affected the whole situation. Daft further elaborated that the relationship between leader and follower style available in four categories, namely telling, selling, participative and delegating. From this, it just means that we look at the world from a different perspective.
Strategic leadership is the direct relationship with the outside elements such as vision, mission, strategy and implementation. This style guide provides instructions for translating the vision into action and is the foundation for the development of implementation modalities.
In summary, the historical factors such as the organization grows and the level of influence of the leader will influence the opportunities and the vision of leading the organization's overall performance.
With all of these common styles of leadership, one would think that someone could easily have happened with these in mind. But in reality, is quite far from that unless you put in the effort and time to practice continuously. Therefore, here are five ways you can use to combine theory and practice of leadership for success.
Being a non-stop learner. As the popular saying that says "practice makes perfect." So one really need to learn everything about the style of leadership that he or she is going to really put into practice and applied in real life. Only then, you get better and achieve success first.
Gather feedback. Feedback allows you to reflect on what your actions and performance changes needed along the path you need to get what you originally bet.
Reflect. After collecting feedback, you might want to take a pause to reflect that feedback targeting this particular thing he did. Be aware of your results and review in your head. Always make decisions in advance in preparation for the next step.
Try new things. All of the above three things are rendered useless unless you're willing to try new things and approaches. After all, if you do not try anything new, how will you get better at anything, including the leadership?
Apply your skills in various other situations. Always find opportunities that may allow you to view your skills above all other aspects of your life other than the main organizational life. You can try to organize a neighborhood event or even a group of young leaders in your church.
Apply all these things you have learned to work in your life and use them on your life as your personal ground leadership training and will surely reach the essence of combining theory and practice of leadership for success .......
