Get Stronger, Faster, Better and Right Training, eating well and resting up

I rarely start an article with the conclusion at the beginning. But, for this specific topic I could not write any other way. So, here it is.

No magic pill, patented drink mix, sublingual tincture, trans-dermal patch, man made food bar, proprietary mineral blend, or secret capsule is capable of producing results, or anything remotely, which can be reached through its own strength and conditioning combined with an intelligent program, a nutrition program realistic and adequate rest.

As the father of an eight year old baseball, football and soccer, I am often asked by other parents, "What products do you recommend for my son / daughter to help improve their sports performance?" The paragraph above is my answer, always.

No wonder why so many people believe that increasing sports performance can come from a bottle at your local feed store. Freedom of publicity being given marketing dietary supplement is an absolute joke. The flexibility that allows them to prey on people's weaknesses and exploit the fact that many people want to believe what they see and hear through advertising.

The problem is that, even when following the "rules" marketing nutritional supplement can still cleverly craft unbelievably deceptive advertising campaigns and get away

Some supplement companies have lawyers on staff who specialize in making sure that the company that they are not breaking any laws in its advertising campaigns. Some companies can not afford to hire full-time lawyers as outside consultants to perform the same function. Their main task is to compare the proposed advertising campaign, whether it's a radio ad, a television commercial, internet or print and make sure they comply with all rules and regulations formulated by the Federal Trade Commission and / or federal Communications Commission. Keep in mind these hired professionals to work for the company that pays them and not for you, the consumer.

Consider this, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act does not require manufacturers to report adverse reactions or side effects. In addition, the sale of any supplement can be avoided if the Food and Drug Administration can prove that the supplement is harmful. Incredible, is not it?

Despite the fact that supplement companies are restricted from making exaggerated or unsubstantiated claims, many are still able to get away with extremely deceptive advertising campaigns. Some companies are still so greedy that they completely disregard the rules of the industry and use lies in their marketing campaigns, knowing that the regulatory agencies are overloaded and can not take any unscrupulous businesses. Even when caught, some of these companies have to pay a fine that usually amounts to only a small percentage of the profits he made from his fraudulent marketing techniques. They are then ordered to clean up their marketing campaigns so that they comply with industry standards and are then allowed to continue selling their products.

So, what are a young athlete and / or parent to do, knowing that all the outrageous claims of supplement companies are either false or grossly exaggerated?

Well, the answer is quite simple. Concentrate on what is proven, safe, realistic and effective. Improving athletic performance is reduced by up to three components:

1) A program of healthy nutrition made whole, nutrient dense, readily available, preferably organic foods. For your specific needs is best to consult with a specialist in sports conditioning and sports nutrition consultant.

2) A carefully designed and managed athletic strength and conditioning program. Several key factors that determine what the training regimen should be ideal for you. Also in this case, it is best to consult with a specialist in sports conditioning to determine your needs.

3) adequate rest. Your body can only get stronger, faster and better if you give the right amount of rest. During the rest period, the body releases hormones and chemicals to help rebuild and recharge. Some of these substances interact with some components of the healthy foods you eat to achieve this goal.

For the record, I'm not opposed to all the nutritional supplements. There are some fantastic multi-vitamin and mineral products, nutrition shakes, nutrition bars and a few other basic products on the market that may be useful as supplements to a well-rounded, whole food nutrition program.

A website that can help you make more informed decisions on some of these supplements is ConsumerLab.com useful.

Remember the old adage: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." When you see or hear these crazy advertisements because in reality, everything you are seeing is a modern day snake oil presentation.
