Understanding the value of traffic
In the past, Internet marketers were obsessed with getting hits, and get people to see their site. Then, with only a few websites to get around, and with few, as well as limited sources of information, anyone with a website was considered very special and gifted, and was an avid Internet. Today, however, webmasters and web developers are not the only people who are obsessed with visitors: everyone and anyone who has a computer terminal, the ability to access the Internet and know-how to penetrate the paradigm of Web 2.0 can make a website and join the rest of the world in the battle for supremacy online.
Instead of just looking at popularity in terms of access and uniques, the traffic is now the name of the game. The traffic is simply how many people are entering the site, how they are going, how long they stay there for some web pages, and how they got to the site. There are many different aspects of web traffic coming into play, and each aspect can help improve your website, if you know what it is.
The old players in the game traffic are still hits and visits. Every shot is just a file on your web page, get a hundred hits a day is not much if you have lots of pictures and downloadable material on your web page. If you have a hundred visitors, it is still necessary to separate in terms of total visitors for the day, which is still divided on the frequency of repeat visits. Your unique visitors to the site, or repeat their visits? These come into play when you take a look at your site popularity, because if you have a hundred visitors a day, but only twelve unique visitors, the rest of the visitors might just go back every few minutes to see if you've updated anything.
Some web hosting services provide traffic statistics, and you must watch them constantly in order to evaluate how your site is doing. Look at your web pages more popular: there is any page on your website that is no longer visited, or that is not accessed? Try to remove this web page and putting it into something better. What is this something better? Take a look at your pages up and see what these pages have in common. You might have content that is appealing to your customers, and this content may be the major player in your traffic. Exploiting this and continue to feed your guests like their old, while improvising or innovating in a healthy way.
Your traffic report will also have a list of referrers. This can give you an idea of how website visitors reached your website. You have found a list of websites or an online directory? They get to you via a search engine? Blogs are your customers jump? If you can get to the bottom of how you have achieved, you can see what you do in terms of viral marketing. If your visitors can be reached mainly through the blog, try more marketing through online groups and forums. If your visitors can be reached mainly through groups and forums, then try to spread the word through blogs.
These are just some aspects of web traffic that you should consider as you take a look at the popularity of your site. Of course, there's only so much you can do with statistics on web traffic in order to continue to improve and update your site and update yourself with the tastes of your target market does not care what the statistics say.
But exactly how do you direct traffic to your site as a newbie in Internet marketing?
- Make your website easier for the eye and easy to use for your potential visitors
- Create compelling content that is targeted to the public
- Use the techniques of search engine marketing so that your audience can find your site when using search engines, which are one of the main vehicles of traffic to a website
- Apply methods that will help you get the attention and leave a print of the traffic so you can contact the visitors again.

These methods are foolproof ways to truly appreciate the value of traffic to your site....
