Book Review - Translucent Revolution
If you are old enough to remember, in 1980, there was a fuss when Marilyn Ferguson has come out with his book The Aquarian Conspiracy. It was an exciting event to find tangible evidence of something many of us suspected: we were not alone in our new way of thinking! The book examined the many recent developments in research, theory, education, treatment and other domains of activity that were expressive of the "new paradigm". Ferguson actually called the turn and helped us to focus on what was happening. He called the transition from separation to interconnectedness. I know that many people in A.R.E. communities have been thrilled with his analysis, because it echoed a fundamental principle in the matter Edgar Cayce.
The choice of "conspiracy" word was also of interest, as he suggested that something bigger than any individual was at work. He suggested the possibility of creating a new culture, not simply a new way of thinking, but a new way of being together, working together, something that could replace the entrenched establishment, which certainly had the upper hand, as an accomplice in the sentence, "old boys network." His investigation of the results of the "new science" in such diverse fields of study seems to provide the necessary credentials to make the new paradigm is not just wishful thinking, but enlightened and rational. The only excuse for not being part of the conspiracy, seemed encyclopedic in its documentation, is ignorance.
Now, some 25 years later, there's a new book, written with the same kind of excitement, the same kind of suggestion that the tide is turning, the same kind of invitation to be part of something big. And 'The Translucent Revolution: How People like you are waking up and change the world (New World Library). The author, Arjuna Ardagh, is a person who had never heard before (nor had I heard of Ferguson when his book was published). The book says he has practiced meditation and yoga as a teenager and has a large following through his "training Living Essence", which I had never heard of either. However, the book is credible analysis of its survey of hundreds of people who went over to worship the new paradigm and is now living and making a difference in the world as a result. The essential step forward in this book than Ferguson is that while she has focused on the evidence of the existence of a conspiracy to think in new ways, Ardagh's book is about the effects of the wake.
The book begins by giving some stories of ordinary people who have had some kind of peak experience that exemplifies what he meant by "transparent". It reflects a state of consciousness where the ego does not block the higher consciousness from shining through. Increased awareness is not always present in these people, why not go around in a state of bliss, but awareness of unity has become enough of a reality that their egos are no longer the director of their lives, but a servant of the practice spirituality. As you read his descriptions of these people could be very likely to find yourself to be among them.
The author observes surprise that her investigation has revealed that it is mainly in the eastern foothills of religion that has found translucents (as may have been years ago), but in several self-help groups, churches, various voluntary organizations, and in many schools and businesses.
What happens when people experience themselves as contact with others rather than apart? Do to others becomes to do the same for themselves. Altruism loses its meaning for them, because they do not see him as a sacrifice of oneself for someone else, but simply how to share the wealth. Volunteering is common among these people, not because the purpose of "doing good", but because it is good to share, and it comes naturally. Patience is easy because being in "flow," in harmony with the way things naturally take place, you feel better than trying to assert itself against "what is." But there is an active fidelity to be a servant of an emerging world of peace and love.
When people experience themselves as more than a Wconsciousness eternal death "thing", have less need to be in control of their lives and accept change as the status quo. There is less emphasis on belief systems - something that people often use to achieve a sense of mastery of the great mystery of life, and something that often divides people. Instead translucents are more interested in experiencing heart connections with others and enjoy empathize with different points of view. There is an openness, acceptance, even humor, to be imperfect, not a religious belief of human beings' be a "fallen" species, but rather because they simply do not care that much. What matters is what we can accomplish when we cooperate, a sentiment shared by many of us - a fact that supports the good news of this book so that the documents so .......
